Where do I find the serial number?

Serial numbers are sent with each Crucible Safety Media multimedia program that you purchase. It can be found on your invoice as well as inside the product's packaging.

Serial numbers are supported for Manager versions 3.1 and higher.

During a presentation, how do I make the screen blank?

While running presentations, you can turn the screen black by pressing SHIFT+B on your keyboard. To make the presentation reappear, type SHIFT+B again.

To make the screen white, press SHIFT+W.

Can I make custom logos appear on printouts?

Yes, any custom logo you define will appear on the top right corner of your printouts.

However, your custom logo will not appear on the printed title slides (first and last thumbnails).

Can I add a custom background image to my custom slides?

Although you cannot define a new backdrop for a topic, you can add images to your custom slide as a backdrop. To do this, insert a new picture to your custom slide and move the image to the back of all other elements on the custom slide.

After I rename a Crucible Project File (.csp), I'm getting a corruption file error. How do I rename a project file?

To rename a project file, open it in the Manager program. After it is open, click on File -> Save As... and type in the new name that you want.

Can I import old Crucible files (.csd) into Manager version 4.0?

Because Manager v4.0 is much different in the way the project file is configured, you cannot convert old files from previous versions into 4.0.

Sometimes my slide printouts have a margin too close to the top of the paper. Can I adjust the margins?

Yes. To adjust the top margin, go the the "Layout" tab in the print dialog.

On this tab, you can adjust the top margin height in inches. The default is 0.5.

How do I get an Activation Key?

For Manager v3.1 and higher, an Activation Key is required to run the application and presentations. To get an Activation Key, you must first have a serial number entered. Once you do this, you will have three options:

1) Have the program retrieve one automatically through an Internet connection.
2) Go to the Crucible Safety Media web site and fill out an activation form.
3) Contact Crucible Safety Media support via phone or e-mail.

After you get the key, you can enter it into the application.

Do I need an Activation Key with every installation?

If you are installing your software with the same serial number on the same computer, you can reuse your Activation Key. If you are on a new computer, then you will have to acquire a new Activation Key.

According to the End User License Agreement, you are only allowed to install the Crucible multimedia software on one computer (and another for a backup).

What image file types are suported for custom slides?

You can insert bitmaps (.bmp) and JPEG (.jpg) files into your custom slides.

Can I resize the presentations to fit screen resolutions greater than 640x480?

All of the topic presentations are created at 640x480 and cannot be resized.

Since some computer screens cannot be resized to 640x480, there is a screen resolution option in the Tools -> Options dialog. Set this to match your computer's screen resolution. When you run the presentation, the slide show will be centered inside a black screen.

Can I import or export files from the quiz tab?

Yes, you can. Right-click on the topic and choose this option from the popup menu.

File types supported include Word documents, text files, Rich Text files and HTML.

My Infosys© projector will not advance the slides. How can I make it work?

The topic presentations require either a mouse click or pressing the SPACEBAR in order to advance the slides. The configuration for the Infosys© remote will not work with the Crucible presentations.

With what versions can I get the upgrade discount for the multimedia software?

Any version of the Crucible multimedia software qualifies you for the discount. However, you must be buying the same product (for example Construction v1 to Construction v4).

You must also be registered with Crucible Safety Media or otherwise prove that you were a paying customer.

Can I import and run PowerPoint© files from the Manager application?

No. The file types for other presentation programs are not compatible.

How do I move a custom slide to a different topic or course?

To move one of your custom slides to a different location, copy the slide in the Sorter View. Open up the new course and/or topic you want and paste the slide into the presentation.

I want to change the text of the slides that came with my program. Can I do this?

No, the system slides that came with the program are not editable. These are copyrighted and cannot be changed.

Are the multimedia courses available for the Apple Macintosh© computer?

No, the Manager application and topic presentation files are only available on Windows© platforms.

What operating systems can the multimedia program run on?

Manager version 3.0 and higher can run on all Windows© platforms (95, 98, ME, XP, 2K). This includes Construction v3.0 and higher as well as all other products.

I get an Imaging for Windows error when I start the Manager application. What is this?

Construction v2.0 and earlier required Imaging for Windows software in order to view thumbnails of the slides. This can be installed onto your system through the Control Panel/Windows Programs menu. The Windows installation disk may be required for this. The program can also be found on the Microsoft web site.

Current versions of the Manager program do not require this software.

What is Crucible Manager?

Crucible Manager is the application tool that allows users to modify and view the topic presentations. Every Crucible Safety Media multimedia program uses this application to run the presentations.

I have a previous version of Manager installed. Do I have to uninstall it to run Manager 4.0?

No, you can run both program versions simultaneously.

The Infosys© projector I am using to show the presentations is trying to resize or flickers during the slideshow. Can I correct this?

Infosys© projectors have an autosize feature built into it which causes this problem. To correct this, open up your Crucible Manager program. From the top menu, choose Tools --> Options...

From the form that appears, choose a different screen resolution. The default is 640x480, so change this to a higher resolution, such as 800x600. You may have to try a few resolutions that will work with your system.
